The Arizona Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA Arizona) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about raising dyslexia awareness and improving literacy and educational support across Arizona and beyond.

Our Board works closely to bring IDA Arizona’s mission to life, meeting the needs of families, educators, and professionals who support struggling readers. Our goal is to provide essential research-based information about assessment, diagnosis, resources, and appropriate educational intervention.

As a Board Member, you will play a pivotal role in driving these efforts and making a meaningful impact in our community.

5-7 vacancies (3-year term)

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in leadership, nonprofit governance, fundraising, or community advocacy
• Knowledge and passion for education, dyslexia, evidence-based reading instruction, and improving literacy outcomes
• Membership Requirement: Must be an Arizona-based IDA member in good standing
• Commitment: Willing to serve a three-year term; volunteering without compensation

Purpose and Responsibilities of the Board

The Board serves as a trusted steward on behalf of our members and stakeholders, ensuring that IDA Arizona remains viable, impactful, and mission-aligned both now and for the future. This is a working board: Directors actively support IDA Arizona through fundraising, program implementation, and committee work. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing regular oversight and governance for the organization
• Attending regular board meetings and at least one special event annually
• Serving on at least one committee each year
